Easter VS Spring Break
By Billy P. of My Creative Writings!
Spring has sprung. Recently, I took one of my sons to an Easter Egg Hunt in a San Dimas park. Officials put pieces of candy and slips of paper for larger prizes into plastic Easter eggs and hid them in the grass. When the signal was given the children then hunted for the Easter eggs. Finally, when all had been gathered the children opened the Easter eggs and removed the candy and turned in the prize slips for actual prizes. There was a problem which actually came earlier. When announcing when the hunt would begin, the official on the microphone referred to the event as a SPRING Egg Hunt. Excuse me? Spring Egg Hunt? SPRING? Oh please! I understand calling a college break this time of the year “Spring Break", that makes sense. Why associate drunken debauchery with any religious event? Jesus drank wine but he certainly did not remove his robe for a “Gods Gone Wild” video. (Mind you, I know there are lots of hungover guys praying they didn’t knock anyone up and after some of those girls caught flashing on camera are sober, the confessional booths must surely be full . . . but I digress . . .) I am tired of the needless political correctness! Separation of church and state is one thing but let’s call a spade a spade, shall we? We do it all the time when it suits us . . . even if it’s only half true! (Are you a fan of Golf? Did you follow the last major election? Sorry! My bad!) My point is if it looks like an EASTER Egg Hunt and it SOUNDS like an EASTER Egg Hunt and it SMELLS like an Easter Egg Hunt it must be an Easter Egg Hunt!
